Spraypaint (Mussar, 2020)

Spraypaint

Spraypaint (Mussar, 2020). 5.5" blooms on 27" scapes exhibiting 3 way branching and an average of 14 blooms. Mid season bloomer with semi evergreen foliage. Blooms show heavy red stipples over a peach base with a triangular yellow to green throat. Parentage is Splatter x Xochipilli.

I have been working with speckled and stippled cutivars in my pursuit of true spotted daylilies ever since I started breeding them 19 years ago now. Splatter was my first introduction from those efforts. I crossed it with David Kirchhoff's Xochipilli which is heavily stippled, saved 4 siblings from that effort and Spraypaint was selected as the best of the bunch. The red colour is much stronger than with Splatter yet retains its pattern. I actually haven't used it much in breeding but expect that it is fertile both ways.
