Spots Before My Eyes (Mussar, 2013)

SpotsBeforeMyEyes

I have been working toward a goal of spotted pattern daylilies for many years now. Spots Before My Eyes has come out of some of my earliest work in this area. The flower is a peach self overlaid with fine burgundy speckles on the tepals with a more densely stippled burgundy eye and a green throat. The 5" flowers are borne on scapes averaging 32" tall with 2 lateral branches plus a top V and about 18 buds. It is an early season bloomer with semi-evergreen foliage.

Parentage is Moldovan's Seurat x David Kirchhoff's Goldmist Red. Surprisingly there is only one registered cultivar with Seurat in its parentage and none with Goldmist Red. Spots Before My Eyes is pod and pollen fertile and has been producing some nice speckled kids. Registered 2013. Tetraploid. $75 (double fan).
