Just Clowning Around (Mussar, 2022) Tet. 5.5" bloom, 35" scape with 3 way branching and a bud count of 15. It is an early-midseason bloomer with semi-evergreen foliage. The blooms are a barn red with a darker eye zone above a yellow to green throat. The sepals show the distinctive yellow stripes that it inherits from its parent Clown Pants. It is easily fertile both ways. The seed originally came from Steve Todd's breeding program (Many thanks Steve!). The pod parent is one of his seedlings out of (Strawberry Lane x So They Met In Georgia) and the pollen parent is his famous Clown Pants.
Just Clowning Around has produced kids with striped sepals as well. I have sold a lot of seeds from it over the past few years. If you have bought any from me and they had Clown Pants seedling listed as a parent, then they came from Just Clowning Around. I have even more seeds available this year. It will occasionally show some cristate tissue on the petals and I really need to use it with my cristate program. It has been relatively slow to increase and I only have a few fans of this plant. I plan to make a single fan available on the Lily Auction this year and will hold the rest for increase. I am excited to make these novel genetics available in both plant and seed form.
