The Hill

This is a view from the top edge of the hill on our property looking southeast in mid October.

This is another view looking almost due south from the top of our hill. My seedling beds run in an east-west direction below and to the left of the large pine on the right of the photo.

Our back yard consists of a small bit of grass between the house and where they had to cut into the hill to build it. It is fenced at either end so the dogs have a place to run. There is a fairly steep slope maybe 10 - 12 feet high before the natural slope of the hill continues up toward the top. Large granite and limestone boulders were brought in from a nearby development to finish the bottom edge of the hill where it meets the grass to prevent erosion.

This is the entrance to the back yard from the west side of the house showing some of the boulders and the gate to the back. The previous picture of the back yard was taken from up the hill behind the tulip tree in the centre of this picture about the level of where you can see the birdhouse.
