MAPLE HUES (Whatley, 1998) Tet, 27" M, 5" Dor.
Yellow gold blend with eye and edge above a green throat. (Persimmon Punch x Fire Burst). Oscie describes it by saying "The large green throat is surrounded with splashes of bright gold an fiery orange; a sight rose-red edge is noted. A combination that is reminiscent of the brilliant autumn maple leaves. The form is a heavy substance with wide sepals and light ruffling. There is unusual robustness in MH." Its parent Fire Burst has splashes of red on its petals and I hope that Maple Hues may bring some of that out in crosses with some of my speckled cultivars.
