BOB'S BABY (Mason, 1997) Tet, 25" M, 5 ½" Dor.
This is a medium lavender and near white bitone with very clear colour. Melanie told me the story behind this plant. One day she was spraying Round Up on the pathways when her husband Bob stopped her from spraying a self-seeded plant growing in the path. Bob dug it up and planted it elsewhere in the garden without telling her where. A couple of years later, a woman visited the garden and after being there only minutes pronounced that she knew which one she wanted. There in the middle of a patch of yellow seedlings was this lovely lavender bitone. Melanie immediately knew what it was and said "I can't sell that one to you. That one is Bob's Baby". The name stuck!
